Crest

The Mount Vernon Christian soccer program has had several designs over the years.  The current crest is the most recent rendition, adopted for the 2008 season.
Above all is the Christian cross, a reminder of our Savior, His sacrifice, and who, by playing with the gifts He has given, we strive to glorify.  This also represents our commitment to play for an “audience of One”.
Below the cross are the letters MVC identifying Mount Vernon Christian, the school, community and tradition we represent.  Below MVC is the name Hurricanes, a mascot that embodies power, force and glory all at the same time.
Below Hurricanes is a soccer ball surrounded by five white stars; the ball representing the sport and the five stars each representing major accomplishments in the program:
  • first program win (1991),
  • first league championship (1998),
  • first district championship (2006),
  • first berth in the State Quarterfinals(2001), and
  • placings in the State Final Four (2001, 2004).
A gold star will be added above the entire crest when a State Championship is achieved.
Below the ball and stars lies the number 90 standing as a reminder of 1990, the first season that Mount Vernon Christian fielded a soccer team.
All the elements are on a blue field.  Blue is a strong and steadfast color, characteristcs expected of each player who feels called to don the MVC crest.  Blue also conveys trustworthiness and confidence, and is associated with unity.
